Or Shalom is a holy community that values ancient wisdom through the lens of modern life.
We share socially progressive values of egalitarianism, the joy of Hasidism, the informed do-it-yourself spirit of the Havurah movement, and the accumulated wisdom of centuries of tradition.
We deepen our own Jewish lives, and the community around us, through study of the traditional sources and the creation of new rituals and liturgy.
We seek to bring repair to the world through our commitment to Tzedakah and social justice.
Or Shalom offers classes for children of all ages. Shabbat Sheli, Bright Lights, and our B’Yachad program for preparing for Simchot Mitzvah.
Adult Learning under the name of Exploring Judaism and Zusia Beit Midrash (House of Study) offers ongoing classes to deepen our understanding of spirituality through the Jewish path.
In September 2008 and 2010, after consultation with the membership, the Board released a Vision Statement for Or Shalom’s growth and development.
